What is Twitter.com
Twitter.com is not related to TwitterDash. It is a internet based service that allows members to send other twitter members short, quick updates via a single text message. To learn more about this great service visit their website here.
What is TwitterDash?
TwitterDash is a new Urban Adventure Race from SmartAlec Adventures that combines text message alerts with urban racing. Dashes have different categories including
Find it- A simple location
Solve it- A riddle or code reveals the location
Do it- Complete a task at the location
Bring it- Bring something to the location
Multi-Dash- Multiple Dashes at the same
time or consecutive.
RabbitDash - Rabbit Trail scavenger hunts during the race that qualify for more DashCash but
can slow you down during the race!
How do I sign-up for TwitterDash?
1) Sign up at twitter.com & ‘follow’ SmartAlecDash.
OR
2) Sign up from your phone via a few short corresponding text messages to ‘twitter’ by following these instructions
A. Send a text message to the number ‘40404’ (twitters special #) Message: ‘yourusername’
(create a username that characterizes you? Ours is SmartAlecDash, you can't have that one!)
B. Twitter responds “Hi! Please confirm by replying with your name. Std. Rates apply. ‘stop’ to quit”.
C. Reply back with your 'username'.
D. Twitter responds back to you. Hi, ‘username’! Have friends send follow ‘username’ to this # for your updates. ‘help’ for more. What are you doing? NOTE: (Don‘t let this confuse you..they are just letting you know you are signed up and inviting you to tell others about twitter or ask them for help)
E. IMPORTANT: To join “TwitterDash” races you must choose to "FOLLOW" SmartAlecDash on Twitter. To do that send a text message to twitter that says "follow SmartAlecDash". Twitter should auto-repond: "You’ll receive a message every time SmartAlecDash updates. To silence, send ‘off SmartAlecDash’."
What are the Rules?
Rules are very important and we want everyone to play it safe.
1) Play SAFE! You are soley responsible for your actions if you choose to find the prize. SmartAlec Adventures or Twitter are not liable for any damage or injury caused by you during your search.
2) Have fun! Urban Adventures are a blast and should be taken lightly. If you aren’t having some laughs and sweating a bit due to your adrenline rush, you probably should take a break and just watch.
3) You must bring your cell phone with the SmartAlecDash update to the prize location with you in order to claim the prize.
4) You must have a Twitter account and be ‘Following’ SmartAlecDash to claim the prize.
5) You must be 18 years old to play or have completed a youth participation form.
How much does it cost to play TwitterDash or to sign up at Twitter.com?
The only cost to you is your regular text messaging plan from your current cell phone provider. There is no ‘extra’ charge for sending twitter messages.
Twitter.com is free and it’s free to sign up to compete in TwitterDashes too.
What kind of prizes are won?
Prizes are related to the sponsors of the event. Prizes will range in value from $5-$100 depending on the event and will range from money to products. You could win cash, concert tickets, gift certificate to a designer clothing stores, food, drinks, gear and anything you might find in a store or restaurant.
Are there prizes for 2nd, 3rd place and so on?
YES! Some sponsors will make available multiple prizes. PLUS DashCash and coupons worth major discounts.
What is DashCash?
DashCash is an alternative incentive for players to play. When you join TwitterDash you automatically have a DashCash account. Dasher's will recieve DashCash just for finishing the game and arriving at the final destination. DashCash might also be awarded for RabbitDash's. DashCash credit is good for prizes in the prize vault, the more you collect the bigger your Dash account gets!
Who is allowed to help me?
Yes, you can ask anyone for help. As a matter of fact, some races may require you to involve someone else! You also may need to incorporate your research skills, navigational skills, and possibly even try using GPS, phone camera’s, and binoculars.
Do I have to be ‘in shape’ to play?
Absolutely not! Some clues might give the advantage to the physically fit and some might give the advantage to a poetry lover. Never know! This is a game for witty, sharp minded, adventurous souls who like a little competition. If you like to stretch your legs and your mind then this game is for you!
How long does a twitterdash take?
Well….Hussein Bolt could play and it probably would last less than 10 seconds but for most of us, the dashes will range from 5 min to 1 hour. It all depends on how close you are to the location and how fast you solve the clue. The prize could be in the coffee shop you’re already in!
Will I get spam messages like advertising?
No. You will not receive 'spamlike' text messages from us. Messages are only related to races and updates from SmartAlec Adventures.
How do I sponsor a TwitterDash?

How many SMS text messages am I allowed to receive?
You can send as many as you like but you can only receive up to 250 messages per week.

Who sees my cell phone number?
Nobody. Twitter.com is the service used to distribute the messages. Since twitter.com is sending out the message, others will only see twitters number, not yours.
I signed up via cell phone. How do I sign into my account on twitter.com online?
1. Go to twitter.com and look for the light green box under the ‘sign in’ fields that says “Already using Twitter by SMS or IM? Click here”.
2. Click the ‘click here’ hotlink
3. The next field asks for your telephone number
4. Enter your phone number and click continue
5. The next screen asks you to enter the code they’ve just sent you. Twitter will then send you a ‘code’ via text message.
6. When you receive it, enter the code on the screen and follow the steps to setting up your online version of twitter.
7. Visit SmartAlecDash and see who else is in the races!
